Barry “Sniper” Spears was probably worn out on Twitter yesterday, fighting, of all things, some racists.
It started with this and only got worse:
Barry added his tweet to this thread, with this person and others lauding Ray Paulick’s balls.
As these threads wore on, Barry probably felt like MF DOOM did when DOOM wrote “Deep Fried Frenz” for his “Mm…Food” album. “Deep Fried Frenz,” as the title suggests, is at best a sardonic look at friendship, at worst an indictment of the two faces of “friendship.”
Why this track for Barry?
Because, though Barry got support from others, his “friends” didn’t show up to back him up. Perhaps they were too busy following Ray Paulick’s Joe McCarthy-like crusade against owners with certain Super Villain trainers (those owners with certain other Super Villain trainers, however, get a pass from Ray), or too outraged by someone leaving a job at one farm to take a position with another, or too mortified by Barry’s chutzpah in putting the wife of the Los Al starter on the hot seat a year after she’d called Barry a “Nigger” on Twitter.
“Let bygones be bygones, Barry,” they probably thought collectively.
That’s not Barry’s style, bruh, when it comes to racism, and his friends should know that by now.
“I’d love to see/hear someone in horse racing that has been through what I’m showing them,” Barry texted me while this was going on.
Have a listen to DOOM’s track at the end of this post — I strongly recommend it — but here’s a relevant verse, with some important lines underlined that Barry can identify with:
You could either ignore this advice, or take it from me
Be too nice and people take you for a dummy
So nowadays, he ain't so friendly
Actually they wouldn’t even made a worthy enemy
Read the signs: "No feeding the baboons"
Seein' as how they got ya back bleeding from the stab wounds
Y'all know the dance, they smile in ya face, y'all know the glance
Try to put 'em on, they blow the chance
Never let your so-called mans know your plans
(How many of us have them?) A show of hands
Here’s the outro:
(Friends
How many of us have them?
Friends
Ones we can depend on?
Friends
How many of us have them?
Friends
Before we go any further)
